Getting the Right Play-through Bonus Codes
Poker websites nearly always come with some kind of bonus code be it for signing up, referring a friend, or making a deposit. The cash bonus codes are the most common, and they are very useful if you use them correctly. That means getting the right amount of cash into your account to avoid a bonus code with increments that take too long to reach each increment or not playing enough, so your bonus code eventually expires.
Expiring bonus codes are the worst thing that can happen to you as a poker player. Poker is all about getting maximum value out of everything you do, and so if you play enough poker to get through every increment of your bonus code, you have made the maximum value because you retrieved all the free money you could get.
However, sometimes you can plough through these increments too quickly. This usually happens with deposit matches when players don’t deposit enough money and so the deposit match cash amount is low.
Deposit match and bonus code strategies consist of getting through a play through amount. For instance, if you make a £100 deposit on a 100% deposit match bonus code, you will have a £100 bonus.
That bonus will be split into 10 increments of £10 each. The play-through will then dictate how much money you need to stake to get that £10 deposited as cash into your poker account. A play-through of 10 would mean you need to stake 10 times the £10 increment and 10 times the overall bonus to get through all the increments in the long run. That’s £100 per £10 increment and £1000 overall to get the full £100 bonus.
That amount sounds like a lot of cash, but in poker you bet and win a lot of the time, so it doesn’t mean you need to lose £100 to get your £10. Plus the cash staked from any additional deposits you make will still count towards your play through. The only thing you need to be careful of now is that the bonus doesn’t expire, but at the same time don’t feel forced to bet more money to reach the bonus if you are on a losing streak.
Every $1 you bet on the poker tables should count as $1 towards your bonus. In this example 100 $1 bets will give you your full bonus. It is up to you to plan how much cash you will deposit for 100% match according to the stakes on the tables you play and how often you play. If you can get this as close to correct as possible, you should get maximum value from your bonuses.
